Judy is a parent educator, family coach, and personal historian who has written more than 20 books and hundreds of articles. She speaks internationally on family issues, including end of life. As a PBS Ready-to-Learn consultant, she works with Head Start organizations and child care resource centers.
The symbol of the artichoke has great meaning for Judy in her teaching and writing. In fact she’s often referred to as Auntie Artichoke. As she works with families she sees that frequently, like the artichoke, only the outer edges are exposed and they can be prickly and sometimes bitter. But, as you expose the artichoke (and people) to warmth, caring, and time, gradually the leaves begin to open and expose the real treasure inside.
She and Dwain, her husband of 40 years, have six grown children and seven grandchildren.

Harriet is not your typical article marketer. She started out as a teacher and earned a BS with honors from Wheelock College in Boston, MA. She went on to earn an MA in Art Education from the University of Minnesota and did additional graduate work. After spending a dozen years in the classroom, she changed careers and turned to writing.

Jeff, your background is in the Secret Service. How does that experience effect your article marketing strategy?
When I really need to drive home at a particular point, I will reference the President of the United States. For instance, some people really think they are too busy to exercise. My response? If that man can squeeze in 20 minutes each day to exercise and stay healthy, I’m certain every one of us can!
Thus, exercise is about prioritizing your time. You make time to shower, don’t you? Then you should make time for something that can help you live longer, as well.
What would you tell others about the success you’ve had thus far with EzineArticles.com?
First, let me tell you how skeptical I was to sign up for an account with EzineArticles.com! To me, it was just another SEO tool that drove traffic, and I don’t have time to dedicate to every single new SEO tool that hits the market.

In my first 20 articles, here is a list of the quantifiable results I’ve gotten:
My article “Healthy Eating in 100 Words” is being published in an Ebook in Queensland, Australia.
I was featured twice in a Pennsylvania small town newspaper. These features drove traffic to my blog and resulted in about one hundred book sales!
As my article marketing tools sharpened, traffic to my blog increased significantly and my AdSense account grew exponentially.
You said you’re amazed by the results you get from EzineArticles. How so?
I’m amazed because EzineArticles is a FREE resource. For results this great, one would expect to pay a lot of money.
Where/how does article marketing fit into your overall marketing scheme?
After seeing results so quickly, there is no doubt EzineArticles.com is an effective platform for marketing my blogs. Therefore, article marketing has been implemented into my overall marketing strategy aggressively. On a weekly basis, I try to submit 2-5 articles that are focused on helping busy people live healthier.
I predict EzineArticles.com will remain in my top 3 marketing strategies for many years to come.
In our eyes, you do many “right things right” by utilizing several of the EzineArticles tools at your disposal. Which are your favorites and why?
To date, there are (3) EzineArticles tools that really make life easier for me:
Draft Button – I start writing an article and halfway through I realize that two points I make would be great content for stand-alone articles! I simply start a new article, drop in the title, save it, and then go back to finish what I was writing. It’s that simple.
WYSIWYG Editor – For those who are new to it, it’s a simple way to make edits to your articles. You can bold, bullet, italicize, and much more! No need to worry anymore if you don’t know html code.
Article Reports – You can see how many people read the article, but you can also see what search terms actually got them to the article. Using these analytics helped me tweak my keyword strategy and get more exposure to my articles each time I write!
Any closing thoughts?
If there is one suggestion I can make it would be this: Finish reading this article, and hurry to write your next article! For every minute you aren’t writing and submitting, your competition is writing and submitting. If you want to keep up with the competition, one way to do so is to keep up with your writing! The more you write the more traffic you will get. It’s that simple.

What drew you to our attention is the editorial quality of your articles. What’s your secret?
“Thank you for the compliment. Reading each article carefully and being sure to review it more than once helps to assure me I’ve made few errors. Proofreading and rewriting are essential skills. In addition, I care about what I say and I know that readers will judge me by the way the article sounds.”
What EzineArticles tools do you find most useful?
“I love the article reports. I track the views and URL clicks on each of my articles. In the almost six months I’ve been with EzineArticles, I have been able to determine which of the two categories I write for produce the best results, as determined by the number of people visiting my website. While some of my articles have more views, I can see that the ones that produce the most clicks are best. The tools provide that data for me on a daily basis and I use the information to analyze my overall success.”
What kind of traffic do your articles generate for you?
“Much of my website traffic comes from the articles. I have been pleased with that response. While I continue to work toward attracting more traffic, I see progress. I have had direct responses from people who obviously read the articles and were motivated to contact me.”
What advice would you offer somebody thinking of becoming an EA author?
“First, I would suggest that a potential author determine the desired outcome. Is it just to have an article published, is it to have someone read the article (writers often feel very lonely in their work), or is it to drive traffic to a website resulting in sales. Those are different goals. Once that is determined, I would recommend just writing some articles and analyzing the responses. A person has nothing to lose to try. And the only way to improve writing is to write. This provides that opportunity with a built-in audience.”
In your eyes, what makes you unique as an article marketer?
“I am a writer, so that helps. I understand marketing and providing benefits to the reader. I constantly work on improving the quality and the content of my work.”
You’re fairly new to EzineArticles. What’s your impression thus far?
“I love the chance to write and have my articles read by others. I see this as a necessary sales tool for my work. What better way for a writer to promote her work than to be able to write to do that?”

Along with being an Expert Author, Mason is a web developer, video editor and rapper. He loves music and is into fitness and reading self-motivation books such as “Think & Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill and “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki.
