Writing serious articles on Tarot and consciousness, Tarot and spiritual enlightenment, is an exercise in futility on EzineArticles because it has Tarot under ‘Arts and Entertainment’ and Spirituality is a limited category: not too many choices that are meaningful.

That is why, of all the meaningful articles I have written, they are paled by my recipe for chicken soup when you don’t cook.

Literary writing doesn’t seem to exist on EzineArticles. I subscribe to articles, and I just shake my head. Your talk of quality writing seems wistful to me.

Emily –

Thanks for your comments. :-)

We’re the first to admit that our category listing is far from complete. We are constantly adding new categories where appropriate, but quite honestly there are thousands of potential categories and subcategories that could also be represented. Our challenge is to offer as many as possible without creating overlap or confusion. Your issue is also exacerbated by the fact that many would disagree with your categorization of Tarot as a spiritual pursuit. The mainstream population feels that it is no more than a source of entertainment. We have to honor the opinion of the majority in this case.

Regarding the quality of some of the EzineArticles articles you find: I would remind you that the emphasis for us is on “Expert” vs. “Author.” While an author may be an expert in a given niche, they are not necessarily a literary expert as well. That particular combination is a much rarer find. Our platform gives a variety of experts an opportunity to share their expertise with the world while also promoting their website or blog. In addition, a large number of our members have learned English as a second, or even third, language. Their expertise is still valid regardless of their command of the language.

With that said, there’s another factor to take into account. Our Editorial Guidelines have become considerably more stringent over the course of the last few years. There are thousands of older articles that wouldn’t past muster against our current approval process. We’ve chosen to “grandfather” those in despite their less-than-ideal literary prowess.

Bottom line: We’re constantly in a state of improvement. Comments like yours help and motivate us to continue moving in the right direction.
