Expert Author Showcase: Bruce Kaler M.D.

Meet EzineArticles’ Expert Author Bruce Kaler M.D. in Today’s Author Showcase

Dr. Bruce Kaler’s career resembles the premise of a medical mystery on television: doctor by day, writer by night. Unlike typical medical mystery characters, Dr. Kaler tunes in to his audience to empower his readers.

As a physician for over 30 years and as a fiction and non-fiction writer for over 6 years, Dr. Kaler makes every effort to educate and share information about the human condition. Inspired by daily conversations with his patients, Dr. Kaler’s health-related articles are clear, concise, and accessible to readers. “At risk of sounding corny, I learn from my patients,” he said. “I feel my articles are just extensions of my conversations with people.”

3 years ago, Dr. Kaler found EzineArticles and soon discovered the incredible benefits of article writing. “The marketing principle of giving away of something of value for free in order to sell something else resonated with me,” Dr. Kaler commented. “It is also a way to establish your voice and brand in a more structured professional manner than typical social media… [The] growth of the Internet creates a huge demand for quality content [and] EzineArticles is a wonderful reservoir of good content on many topics.”

With an approachable style that breaks down complex issues into a digestible and relevant manner, Dr. Kaler’s success can be attributed to his utmost respect for people. Whether they are readers, clients, or patients, Dr. Kaler considers it a privilege to be a trusted advisor and to be intimately included in someone’s life.

The Doctor Is In: Bruce Kaler M.D.’s Advice for Expert Authors

  • Write as much as you can, as frequently as you can… “I still think the key is to write ‘quality content’… If the information provided to the reader or a client is not clear and understandable it is of no use… If it is well written, accessible, and of timely interest to people it will get plenty of attention.”

  • Rely on resources that you have the ability to control… “Do not waste money on marketing efforts like PR releases, promotional trinkets, or trying to find a literary agent. Spend more of your own time and less money. I wasted too much on ineffective marketing when my own personal efforts on the web have been much more effective in driving traffic to my books, gaining some awareness of what I can do, and establishing a brand for myself as an author.”

  • Read anything; everything… “Learning how to get started in publishing a manuscript was intimidating. However read, read, read… I find it refreshing and inspiring, even when what I am reading may be ‘off-topic’… There is a wealth of info on the web. It is a great time to be a writer.”

  • Use tools… “I rely on [EzineArticles] article stats the most. I am eager to see how many people read my article or reuse it by posting elsewhere. The amount of interest helps me assess how effective my articles are. My goal is to write material that is of interest and useful to as many people as possible. The article stats measure the response to my articles.”

Overall 1.5% CTR, range 0 to 11.8%. The reasons why a reader clicks though are variable to say the least. All the more reason one needs to write a lot; but emphasis must be on relevance and quality on the topic of interest. Astronomical demand for web content but the latter is what makes it standout.

It depends on the area of interest; what the niche or topic you or your audience wants. The content has to be well written, but the information needs to be relevant, timely and useful to your audience to generate some interest. People are interested in so many different things, you cannot appeal to all of them. You can address the things that are important to you. If what you are writing on a particular topic is fresh, current, and thoughtful you will engage the interest of others. You can get other contributors to post original material on your website on the topic of interest. EzineArticles is certainly a great resource for such material. But the most interesting aspect as a writer is posting your own thoughts and connecting with others about the material.
