The Art of Article Marketing

Simply put, writing for EzineArticles is an art.

Many occupations and activities are described as being both a skill and an art. For example, practicing the art of medicine; learning the martial arts; mastering the art of conversation; or enjoying the art of fine wine-making. One connotation of this turn-of-phrase implies that although the skill may be learned in a relatively short period of time, the art may take years, or even a lifetime, to master.

The same could be said of the “Art of Article Marketing”. True, you don’t often hear that reference, but think about it: The average person can typically learn the basic skill of writing, submitting and utilizing articles in their marketing efforts in a fairly short period of time (granted, some take longer than others). However, the art of article marketing may take years to master.

So what’s the point?

The point is that the only way you will ever be truly successful at one of these “arts” is to practice, practice, practice. In the case of article marketing, that means:

  • Increasing your knowledge base to truly become an expert in your chosen niche(s).
  • Writing fresh and original articles on a frequent, consistent basis.
  • Learning everything you can from successful article marketing gurus.
  • Utilizing all of the tools available to increase your articles’ exposure.
  • Tracking your results to constantly improve your best practices.

Using EzineArticles to drive traffic to your websites is a skill, there’s no doubt about it. But it’s a skill that can be learned in a relatively short amount of time. Using EzineArticles to drive BUSLOADS of traffic to your site — now that is an art.

If you’re not already an Article Marketing Artist, you’ll be glad to know you’ve taken another step in that direction by simply reading this blog entry. Why not take a few more steps while you’re at it? Then take a few more. And a few more. Before long, you’ll be wearing a jaunty red beret and calling yourself the Monet of EzineArticles.

You say it very well. The fact that it is art also means that everyone has different ways to do it.

I also find that everyone has his/her own personal preference about how to write and submit articles.

In certain niches, it is totally a numbers game, but in others, researching keywords and monitoring trends may result in surge of traffic from search engines.

To steal from Perl language, TIMTOWTDI. There is more than one way to do it.

You are right that it is an art that can be developed over time, but you can dive in and start learning what works by doing it.

I’ve been writing in the self-improvement-coaching section, and a few others, for some time, and I can tell you that just be writing to help others learn how to build a successful coaching business has helped me become a better coach. The more I write the better I become at coaching others since I find ways to communicate the concepts better.

And, as I’ve done it, I’m measuring what works, what connects through article marketing.

For instance, I measure whether the titles are getting more reads than anyone else in a topic. When I get to several times more reads than anyone else, I know that I’m connecting with my audience and have an attention grabbing headline.

And then I measure the percentage of those that finish reading and click onto the link. That’s a measurement of the success of the article and the call to action in the resource box. I’d like to get 30% of more of those starting to read that take the next step I want them to take.

And then I measure the signup rate on the landing page on my website. Just another measurement of success, and connecting to the target audience.

All of those are measurements of the success of article writing. It gives me a great tool to build a list, and to constantly tweak the results at each step to higher and higher success.

Content is the king. I/you can write some unique and really useful articles for the readers and not only for search engines, your articles will do the real marketing for you. We should try for the quality and not for the quantity. A well written article will do more than 1000 bogus articles. So give the proper time and attention to every article and it will work.

This is a unique and different way of looking at Article Marketing. I like it. I do think of writing as an Art. It gets better and better as you continue to write.

Through ACE Writers, I’ve learned that skills change and you enhance or hone your skills when you apply them more and more. Article Marketing is the same concept. Just keep honing those skill and the hat will come.

Can I have a gray beret, please? It will go better with my new gray walled office! ;)

As with everyone i am sure, you have to take your time writing, not everything that comes into your mind looks good on paper. Keep reading through it and improve on it each time until you are sure it is ready. I am new to article writing, not sure if i am any good yet, time will tell i suppose.
Great Post

Thank you for the encouragement. There are times when I write articles for EzineArticles and see very little return and wonder why. The problem rests with my content. I guess I need to work on the art a bit more and not give up.

Thanks again.

Hey this is a very cool topic, so I searched for my articles with Art in them and came up with these:

The Art and Science of Futurism
The Art of Arguing
The Art, Science and Psyche For Achievement
The Art of the Franchise Transfer – Buying a Used Franchised Outlet
The Art of Business Negotiation in the Middle East
Is Marketing an Art or a Science

It seems that “The Art of…” Makes for a very good articles title. I’d say it works best when it is followed by a dash (-) then a very descriptive phrase. Like;

The Art of Article Marketing – Unlock Your Profit Potential with Practice

Hmm? If no one wants it, I think I’d like to write that article?

Good points as usual. Article marketing is a great marketing tool but I find a lot of negativity in people’s mindset about writing – typically voiced as “I am not a writer”. This is a great excuse to not even try!

Agreed being a great article writer is an art, but some of the points here are spot on – you can develop that by writing articles for EzineArticles. keep improving, keep adding content, learn from mistakes, figure out what works and results will come!

A very helpful article. I am new to article marketing and have submitted my first one. Blogs like this help to learn to focus on the topic or thought and process it more clearly! I am looking to driving traffic to my site through this resource.
