EzineArticles Asks: Should You Try Guest Posting?

Besides article writing, what’s another fantastic way to build trust, credibility, and exposure?

Similar to publishing articles on credible article directories, guest posting helps you advocate your platform.

With guest posting, you can achieve the following:

  • Network with fellow experts in your niche
  • Foster your credibility and authority
  • Increase your visibility and reach in your niche
  • Connect with new readers to grow your readership
  • Provide unique backlinks to your blog or website

When writing a guest post …

Similar to publishing articles on EzineArticles.com, guest posting is most successful with quality, informative content. Don’t forget to provide a Resource Box or brief author biography that offers information about you, your organization, and how readers can further connect with you (i.e., a link).

Here are some additional tips to keep in mind when writing a guest post:

  • You’re entering another expert’s territory – ensure your piece has topnotch value to truly represent you and your brand.
  • Scope out their audience! Provide benefit-oriented content for their needs and wants.
  • Format content into easily digested chunks. Write in succinct paragraphs as well as use bolded headers and lists.
  • Use active language and anecdotes to convey your point – are you the stuffy guest or are you the life of the party? (Be the latter!)

Should you consider allowing guest posting to your website?

Yes – but tread carefully! It may take a little time to build relationships with credible experts in your niche. Place quality checks along the way to steer clear of plagiarism and proofread all content prior to adding it your website. Once you’ve made those contacts, you may be able to pull from a steady stream of original and diverse content for your blog or website. This steady stream creates “stickiness” (visitors stay on your website) and increases your audience return rate.

Where can you easily start networking? Connect with dozens of Expert Authors, build your presence in your niche, and foster your very own Expert Author community within the Networking section of My.EzineArticles.com.

Have you found success with guest posting – either as the guest or publishing a guest post? What pros and cons do you foresee (or have experienced) in guest posting? What additional recommendations can you offer? Let us know – we’d love to hear from you!

Hi, this is a timely article. I am always on the look out to see what is fresh and new at EzineArticles.

Have I found success with guest posting? Not yet, this
is old school marketing from the very beginning when
I first got involved with IM back in the late 90’s and
this is what I called the basics. Very few marketers
know or understand this important concept.

It’s a great way to start to make a first and lasting impression in the online community.

The major reason for setting a goal is for what it makes of you to accomplish it. What it makes of you
will always be the far greater value than what you get. ~ Jim Rohn

Keep it fresh. and real.

Jose,

Links in the article body are “no follow,” while links in the Resource Box are “do follow.” The reason for this is that your self-serving links should be placed in the Resource Box, while any non self-serving or reference links should be placed in the article body. This will focus search engine attention on the links you have a vested interest in (your self-serving links), while diverting attention from any links you are just using for reference (your non self-serving links).

For more information, we recommend reviewing the Website Links/URLs section of our Editorial Guidelines: http://ezinearticles.com/editorial-guidelines/guideline/3f

One word of caution on this. Many folks will attempt to exploit your celebrity status or expert status in the industry to sell their trinkets online. Not all internet marketers are legitimate, many are scoundrels, thus, be very weary of whom you associate. Even those who appear to be legitimate now, two weeks from now they may turn to the dark side, meanwhile your guest post is still there, and your name associated with them. Beware, do your homework, never assume everyone is as honest and forthright as you are. There is a rather high percentage of internet scoundrels out there, so “Trust but verify” before you do that guest post. Think on this.

Yes for sure. There is no other authentic way to build links then Guest Posting. you not only get relevant link juice but also get recognition from different audiences. It is beneficial in many ways. The only thing that you should be worried about when opting for guest posting is relevancy and ensuring that all the content on that blog is fresh, unique, engaging, and free from plagiarism.

Guest blogging is essentially Quid Pro Quo, you offer quality content in a key area for a link back to your site within the content or in the resource box.
Interestingly the mainstay of anchored keywords is becoming less relevant or should I say Penguin is looking at the link anatomy and assessing the relevancy.
I would still use anchored text but use call to actions more which include the targeted keywords.
This could mean the reduction in effectiveness of link building in that strategy rankings are already being based on quality of the links as opposed to the quantity of links.
The plus side is if you write content in an altruistic sense you could benefit more you may be an expert in other areas unrelated to your chosen niche before you may not have been able to bridge the two this may no longer be the case.
In other words if your site sells monkey hats but you’re writing about political science these areas are totally unrelated however you still have a link and the chance that the “reach” via social networks increases thanks to sharing because the area could be more appealing.
Content is king, Authority is highly coveted and social will propagate.

Isn’t guest blog posting the new article marketing? I mean after all if you can find a blog that is in your niche you are more than likely to get alot more traffic from that guest post than from an article directory. No offense EzineArticles :)

Craig, that is a very interesting way of looking at things, still, I’d say not really. I mean in some regards one could say that. But in the case of EzineArticles it was first established as a place to post articles and allow e-zines or e-magazines to go to get content and then put that content into their email newsletters and e-zines.

Further, when we look at the history of trade publications allowing various experts and vendors in the field to write content for the magazines with a byline, in a way this Guest Blogging is just an evolution of that, so is it really “new” well in this case historically looking back, no, but it is a somewhat new medium compared to trade journals which have been around for well over 100 years now.

Nevertheless, your question is provacative, and such inquiry very relevant. In the case of article marketing or the establishment of expert status, I am not sure it is an either or but in this case a both. Because, you’d want e-zines to pick up your article, you’d want folks to see it in the search engines, and you also want select small groups of people to “see you” and your writings, elsehwere, it’s all good, and perhaps needed for a solid personal branding and marketing effort. So, that’s the way I would view it.

Thanks for making me think on this today Craig, I appeciate it, and needed that today.
