Additional Subcategories: 42 New Additions

Expanding our grand total to 673 Niches!

We recently completed a review of the subcategories (niches) we offer to authors for organizing their articles. Despite our ever-growing list of categories, we continue to receive articles that don’t really fit into any of our existing subcategories. When that happens, we note the potential new category and watch for more article submissions that match that topic. When there’s enough activity to warrant the addition of a new subcategory, one is created.

Below are the 42 newest subcategories. Expect another group of this size soon.

Dan Goodwin writes:

I’m a big confused by this. Creative Writing is something I write about and when I clicked through to that category from the link above to see the articles and top authors, I’m already number one. I haven’t submitted any new articles in a while, have you re-categorised old articles?

Lisa Angelettie writes:

I’d just go with it Dan. Congrats:)

Whenever new sub-categories are created, we do an automatic and manual identification of appropriate articles that should be moved into the new categories.

We call this new category “seeding” and it usually only happens once per new category.

Dan Goodwin writes:

Ok, great, thanks for explaining Chris. I think these articles were just under “Writing” before, but “Creative Writing” is far more appropriate and specific.

Lisa writes:

I like it!

That’s cool Dan! Top Author is something to talk about. You must have what it takes. Congrats!

EzineArticles: This is exciting. I have had a commitment that has taken my time an energy for the past 4 months, but am getting closer to moving on and begin writing again.

I have to say, that without YOU my business would have failed…while I was away. It soared during my “off time” and that’s because I had taken the time to write articles for the past 2 years. I’ve had the pleasure of a top publisher recognizing my worth and publishing my work.

Thanks EzineArticles! You can’t imagine how much appreciation goes into those words.

Thanks so much for this. I am letting my article and online marketing students know about this right away. This gives everyone the opportunity to write and submit more articles related to their niche.

Great news – just a question – will be be able to re categorize previous articles if new category appears more suitable?

One of the exciting things about new categories is the ideas it triggers for new writing opportunities. I’ve been a fan for years – and you just keep getting better! So thanks for yet another step in helping writers get their information out to more people.

Thank you so much for the update and related information. It is the constant rejuvenation of EzineArticles that keeps it # 1, and the best source of information on the web.

More Dog categories would be cool for another round.

Thanks for continually trying to improve. The last four years have seen such an explosion of Internet innovation that if you don’t scramble to keep up, your market share sinks almost overnight.

EzineArticles is doing a fine job…keep it up!

Patricia writes:

I used to list in ‘Home and family- parenting’. Now it looks like ‘Education K-12’ and ‘Education – special needs’ are more my areas. What happens to my old posts? Do they get linked to these areas?

Comment provided July 25, 2010 at 12:36 PM

This won’t probably fully answer your question, but it’s important to share that the discoverability of your articles *does not* rely on which category it’s in.

That means any shift in your articles by us manually or by your edit/category shift request …has no impact on how others are able to find your articles…

Rarely does anyone believe me when I share this. The data we have proves otherwise. :-)

Sofia writes:

I wanted to ask the same question as Patricia. Do all of the old categories stand?

Comment provided July 25, 2010 at 1:14 PM

Sofia writes:

Are we able to reclassify some of our articles or should we just leave them as they are and march forward with our new ones?

Again – thanks!

Comment provided July 25, 2010 at 1:16 PM

If we didn’t reclassify your articles, it was because we felt that they didn’t need to be reclassified.

It’s my gut opinion that your manual editing and requesting a change of category won’t be worth your time to do… in terms of your articles’ ability to attract more traffic in a different category…from that effort.

You’re still welcome to edit each of your articles and request a new sub-category if you feel strongly that it’s important.

Thank you for the suggestions. We have added them to the table for consideration for the next round.

Thank you. It appears there is still very little on Medical History or Cosmetic medicine (only Cosmetic Surgery).

Comment provided July 25, 2010 at 5:56 PM

We visited this in the past and have not had a strong demand for breaking cosmetic surgery/medicine down even further.

Can you provide us with suggestions on what topics would be discussed so we can research it further?

Belinda Meyer writes:

Another category needed: “Spa”
Beauty is not appropriate, nor is massage.
How about it EzineArticles?

I added this for consideration to the next round.

I just started a new blog in a new (to me) niche. None of these are related, but I see you already have nine possible categories for my articles. Yay!

There have been a lot many articles on Homeopathy. These articles are taken under ALTERNATIVE sub-catergory from Health. I think we need a separate sub-category as HOMEOPATHY.

it’s great to see all the new categories! Lots of creative ideas flow just from looking through the list. I’ll forward this information to my friends and colleagues who like to write.

Thanks for continuing to provide new categories to meet new needs!

Sadly, the category I requested back in May is not included under relationships. I had requested that Widowhood be included. With all of the young widows and widowers out there struggling with their grief and wondering whether/how they can find love again, this is, in my opinion, a very important topic to include.

I write a lot regarding widowhood and finding love after loss. Currently, EzineArticles has no clear category for what I write about, so I have settled for Relationship Readiness.

Widows and widowers are not simply “singles” nor do the fit in the “divorced” category. I hope the decision to include this category will be revisited soon.

Comment provided July 25, 2010 at 9:17 PM

Perhaps this sub-category will fit:

Thank you, Penny. I have used that category when I’m writing about grief and loss related to widowhood. When I am writing about my primary topic, which is helping widows and widowers find love after loss, this falls more into the relationship category.

As a result, I have concluded the best category at the moment is Relationships: readiness.

I appreciate your response to my comment, Penny. Take care, Michelle

Investment Section; “ETFs”

You definitely need to add an ETF category to the Investment Category-Section. Because “Mutual Funds” in many regards have given way to ETFs and they are not the same. You really can’t have a Mutual Fund category without having an ETF category anymore, it just makes the site look it does not understand the reality of investments in the present period.
