New Multimedia Help for Article Submissions

We’ve added a new “How To” video and updated the audio help files on the Submit an Article page!

Most EzineArticles Expert Authors would agree that submitting a new article is pretty simple – you just fill out the form. But for new authors, this form can appear a little daunting with its references to HTML tags, Teaser Copy, WYSIWYG and Keywords. So for years we’ve included audio help files to aid newbies through this process.

In an effort to make it even easier, we’ve now added this seven-and-a-half minute video that walks you through the entire article submission process:

Downloadable Versions:
WMV Format     MOV Format     MV4 Format     MP3 Format

We’ve also updated and rerecorded the audio files to make the instructions clearer and to explain the newest features on the Submit an Article page.

To Access the Video and Audio Clips:

  1. Log into your EzineArticles Account.
  2. From the Author’s Area, click on the “Article Manager” drop-down menu.
  3. Select “Submit a New Article”.
  4. Click to view the video in a pop-up window.

  5. Click to hear audio files explaining each section of the submission form.

Don’t forget, you can also find this video, and almost every other EzineArticles video, on our Video Archive page, where you can download a copy or embed the YouTube version directly into your website or blog.

Leave a comment and let us know if these new multimedia upgrades are useful and if there’s anything you’d like us to do differently.

I totally agree with the thinking that:
I think our most successful authors would agree that the observations you make here are the keys to their success. You’re fortunate in your early revelation; even many veteran article marketers have yet to discover this simple truth.

Internet T1,

Glad you like it. =) If you’re having issues with load time, here’s a few things you can try:

Make sure you’ve got the most current versions of the Flash and ShockWave plugins for your browser.
Download one of the other video versions (QT or M4V) listed immediately below the video window.
Wait about a week for it to appear on our YouTube Channel and try watching it there instead.

Why the review period is so long. My article was submitted on SEP.01 but until now it’s still pending. Is there a problem with my article? Anyone give me some updates?

Emma,

Here is a message sent out to members on Tuesday of this week by Chris Knight, our CEO, regarding the issue of slow article approvals:

An update from Chris Knight:

With yesterday being Labor Day here in the U.S., our Editors had the day off. This combined with our existing backlog and as a result we’re currently not meeting our internal article review speed targets. That’s the bad news.

Here’s the good news: We’ve been having difficulties keeping up all Summer, so in late July we experimented with, and are continuing to run, a 2nd shift of Editors. This is why you may have seen your articles getting reviewed up until 11:00PM CST. In addition, many of our Editors are working beyond their normal schedule to help us catch up to our normal review times. Lastly, our July and August classes of newbie Editors are beginning to pull some of their own weight while 4 more new Editors started their training today.

We’re committed to significantly increasing our human article review speed in the coming weeks.

Chris,

Whilst it is always great news to hear of businesses that are doing well, it also becomes painful for those who are finding it difficult.

This last article update was published on September 11th 2009 and is a great sight for sore eyes.

My only concern about the way things are handled is that for example; I sent in 5 articles over a period of 5 days, the first one did not even get looked at till day 11, and after 2 tickets asking if they may have been lost in the system.

After another 24 hours or so things started to progress yet, did not get any answers back through from the tickets I sent in.

Could it not be a good time for outsourcing at busy periods like when “HAHD” is running?

I so enjoy EzineArticles and look forward to developments to make things brighter for the future.

Darren & everyone,

First, email tickets almost NEVER get lost. In fact, we have at least 1000 members asking us right now where their article is at… because we’re not meeting our own internal article review speed targets… and with at least 2500 members asking us via email where things are at weekly; it only compounds our inability to keep up.

We will NEVER outsource our Editorial team, nor our QC team, nor our member support team.

We typically hire more people per month than our competitors have all together…

I get that it’s frustrating and I’m sorry.

Know that we have a plan to get us back to our internal speed targets and our 2nd shift plus weekend overtime (we manually reviewed more than 8000 articles this weekend) will get us back to our internal targets soon.
