Thanks for the link love. Have a great day. Everyone, I appreciate all your feedback, both here and on Jesse's site. It's interesting to hear different points of view as to what people appreciate / don't about the different sites.

After doing some research for the AC article sight,
I would be leary. They will pay an author up-front.
and then if their article is re-produced elsewhere
it is royality-free. Ezine Articles gives better exposure to authors and is trustworthy to readers.

Associated Content is an excellent site, and Ezine Articles is an excellent site too. I love both!

On AC I have many comments from readers, more than at eHow, which is another very nice site where I submit my “how to” articles.

I love comments from readers! At EA I rarely receive them…
I mentioned that many times. This is another point you have to care about, Chris.
Comments from readers are very important for many reasons.

I was thinking of publishing my articles to AC. However, in the end, I did not.

I put myself into a reader's shoes. After reading in AC, there's no author bio after the article. Your links can only be found in the author's profile. I

Most of the time, I can't be bothered to go and visit the profile. I bet other readers won't do it too. And the money earned in AC is really peanuts. I earned more in Adsense too for 1000 page views. :)

Though AC may rank better in SE sometimes, but I guess EA is suited for the long run.

Interesting read, but I have to sorta disagree. AC and EzineArticles are very different and their purposes are different. You CAN'T self promote on AC; you would want to on EzineArticles.

For a writer who doesn't manage a website or provide products or services, who just wants to write and make some money doing it, AC is one option.

EzineArticles on the other other is good for branding you as an expert in your field and driving traffic somewhere else, so the writer would want a website or a product or service for it to 'work' for them. In fact, I've written an article on EzineArticles intended to drive traffic to another article on AC. They really aren't mutually exclusive and can work together.

I just think they are too different to be compared this way.

Yes, I write for both sites. I left my comment on the other blog too.

Very interesting read.

Love and stuff,
Michy

Hi Chris!

Many times, a freelancer doesn’t have a website and he or she only wants to be paid for writing. In this case sites like AC are very good. However, if someone needs traffic for his or her site, EA is the best one, without any doubt, because it has more traffic.

On the other hand, one may submit articles to both, like me. I noticed that at AC some of my articles have a better position on Google than at EA, because AC has many links and gives emphasis on the keywords, what is more appreciated by Google.

You could do the same Chris, and surpass many other sites. You can use the techniques that they are using. One of them is to allow pictures. This way the articles become more attractive to the public.

Another detail: they show the picture of the most active authors of each category, while you don’t care if the top author in any category already stopped writing articles but simply is the one that already wrote the biggest number of articles, a long time ago. He or she is still considered the top author, only because once upon a time he or she wrote many articles for the specific category, while the most active authors now, are not promoted.

You must promote the active authors, giving them an incentive to write more. Otherwise, they may stop writing when they reach certain number of articles and their realm as “top authors” is guaranteed.
