Earlier this year in April, we added the functionality that allows article commentors to subscribe via email to be alerted when someone comments on an article that they have left a comment on.

(7) months later, we have 2,935 unique email subscribers to receive follow up comments on 3,127 unique articles. Not quite as explosive on the growth side as we had expected, but still a significant metric that shows user engagement…and another way that we bring repeat visitors back to your articles. :-)

Now, these numbers don’t correlate directly, but in the same time frame (April 2nd 07 till today), we accepted 4,771 new comments on articles. It’s our belief that allowing users to comment on articles adds more value to our members than it takes (for those who take the protectionism viewpoint that user comments divert traffic away from the author).

Chris,

How much trouble would it be to get the rating button put higher up the page? Not to many people read down that far.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,

We will raise the article rating system when the time comes to find a way to ACT on the rating data… Meaning, right now, the rating data isn’t leveraged or used in any way other than reporting to our members.

No ETA is currently set to change this due to other priorities getting attention right now. Sorry.

Hi Chris!

How can we delete a comment?
I just read in your blog that it was possible but never learned how to do it.

Hi Christina,

You are able to delete a comment from your articles by logging into your account and selecting “Article Manager” and then “Article Home.”

On the left side of the page you will see a section titled “Account Article Statistics.” In that section you will be able to select “Comments” and then click on each individual comment in order to delete or reply.

I hope this helps!

Thank you very much, Angel!

This information was really helpful!
We better have it before it may be necessary or even if it will never be necessary.

I personally will never delete any comment accepted by EzineArticles , no matter if it is negative or whatever, but I may need to delete a comment for an unexpected reason some day … Who knows?
