Thanks for the reminder, Chris. I logged in yesterday to change my resource box, finally. ;-)

I like the two separate. Whenever I read an article I like, I either first click on the 'extended author bio' to find out more about the person and see a quick list of other article titles or I view their 'expert author' page to see a synopsis of other articles to help me choose the one I want to read next.

I hardly click through to an author's site without first checking their extended bio.

George,

The reason we have two levels of author profiles is because one of them we use to create ad revenue and one of them we use to be nearly ad-free so that it's 'author friendly'.

We're considering merging the two later this year, but no ETA for when or if that will happen.

One of the things that is holding up this decision is our Premium Membership plan that has not rolled out yet as we were considering allowing premium members to have a different level of detail and outbound links on the expert author view... but no ETA for when that will become available.

Alyssa,

The Author Bio is another opportunity for you to tell the world what your expertise is and use this exposure to generate more market interest in yourself and your business and/or website.

I like having an Author's Bio as it is a place where you can give a bit of background on yourself and your area of expertise.

I like the feature in the Extended Author Bio here is mine as an example: http://ezinearticles.com/?expert_bio=George_Lockett

As well as having your Photo included you get to add your books and get lots of management information about how your articles are doing.

I am not quite sure why there is two levels of "expert Author" and "Extended Author Bio" Perhaps Chris can enlighten us?

I feel the Extended Author Bio should be the default. i.e. So you do not have to go down another layer to see this.

Maybe Chris can think about using the full information in the "Extended Author Bio" as the "Expert Bio" perhaps without all the technical stuff i.e. number of hit for articles and total views, etc.

I feel having the Photo and the Bio and list of books published it very useful and should not be hidden away.

Just may opinion.

I have not read a Bio before mainly because I am not wanting to contact anyone as of yet.

What is the advantage to having an author bio?

I have one, but don't feel like it really says much of anything special.

I also know that in all the times I've read articles on this site, I have never gone back to read bios unless it was someone in my own field and I wanted to try to make contact with them.

Perhaps if the benefits of having an author bio were clearer, the participation rate would increase.

Just a thought...
