For fun, we’re considering ordering a few cases of something to give away with a promotion we’re planning for this fall… and we need your help with deciding if we should give away hats or shirts? Which would be more valued?

Hats (baseball cap) or T-shirt (beefy T or dri-fit)

We’re not sure of the color scheme or what will be on it; but assume we’ll ask you to help us decide when the time comes.

Most likely it’ll be something like “Syndicate This!” or “I’m An EzineArticles Expert Author” or “EzineArticles Zen Warrior” or “Insert some short quip here”.

Or should we scrap the whole T-shirt or Hat idea and just roll out another pallet of those I Love EzineArticlescoffee mugs?

Ed writes, “Just wondering if it were possible to develop a statistic that would let us know how many people actually click through to our websites. This would be immensly helpful and would let me know if my resource box is actually working or not.”

Yes, we’ve already considered this. No, we won’t be adding this functionality. Here’s why:

Expect tighter author photo guidelines before the week is over for the 5% minority that deviated.

What do you think of this new feature and how would you like to see it enhanced?

Jeanette Joy Fisher - Author Spotlight

Jeanette Joy FischerToday’s Author Spotlight is “Home Staging Queen” (AKA, America’s “Dream Home” Maker) Jeanette Joy Fisher. Jeanette was picked this week because she has over 350+ articles, has leveraged her core “expertness” into related articles…and always shows marketing/branding smarts/consistency in her efforts.

When you look at Jeanette’s Extended Author Bio, her focus on Real Estate jumps off the page because of the books she has authored and the volume of articles she has submitted in that category.

If you dig a little deeper though, you start seeing landscaping, interior decorating and other related interior design psychology articles to homes and real estate. In addition, Jeanette also includes articles in a few unrelated-to-real-estate areas that she is also an expert in.

What can you take from Jeanette’s example? While you can focus on articles that are your “bread and butter”, occasionally have some fun and write about things you enjoy outside of your core field.

Another thing “Joy” does very well (besides being upbeat and cheery :-) – She consistently markets with articles. Just like any good marketing, consistency and follow through are key to win the race over the long haul.

Assuming you’ve already read my article on the importance of an optimized article headline, the 2nd biggest mistake that newbie authors make is writing TOO short of a headline.

Pop Quiz: Which of these four headlines do you think will attract more human attention:

Headline 1) Car Audio

Headline 2) Car Audio and Electronics

Headline 3) Car Audio and Video That Will Make Your Friends Envy You

Headline 4) Car Audio Components, Sub Woofers and Tweetors - 7 Tips To Amp Up Your Stereo

Which did you vote for?

A month ago we began accepting new press releases over at PressExposure.com…a project created not because we wanted to be in the press release distribution business; but because the content hungry side of our brains had a hard time deleting the thousands of articles that are sent in to EzineArticles.com that are really press releases in disguize.

So far, a few hundred have been accepted and today, I thought I’d share a few of the lessons we’ve learned along the way:

Where I Was Last Week

First, my apologies for not giving fast email replies while I was out last week. For about 7 days, I was without fast access to email or the Internet.

I flew to Colorado Springs for the USA Racquetball sponsored “High Performance Racquetball Camp”. For 5 days, I lived with my 23 fellow racquetball campers in the US Olympic Training Center where a million+ other athletes have trained before (including Lance Armstrong).

Not every camp applicant was accepted, so it was an honor to train with some of the finest in the country. Technically, it was for ‘open level’ players, so yeah, I felt the pressure.

One of the ways I keep myself sane from working long hours is via Racquetball (with a triathlon, handful of duathlons, 10k runs for cross training). I’m a sponsored player thanks to TeamHead, and I’m also the racquetball trainer for the (4) local YMCA’s and I’m the assistant racquetball coach for about 15 racquetball Jr’s at our local club.

As an entrepreneur, I couldn’t have been more pleased with the way the EzineArticles behind-the-scenes team handled the place while I was gone. Perhaps I should leave more often? ;-)

If you’re mega-active on EzineArticles.com, you may have noticed a few speed bumps along the way as we’re radically rewriting the way we manage the site over the past few weeks.

Check out this blog entry (”eZineArticles and I“) I found tonight from EzineArticles expert author Tel Asiado from Sydney, Australia.

From her author bio, “Tel strongly believes that it’s only when we learn and practice the power of sincere and selfless giving, that we experience life’s deepest joy.” — We couldn’t agree more. Thanks Tel for your lovely blog entry.
