Reprinted With PermissionRate This Post: An author and her publisher are up in arms about this issue, so I’m sharing my response as others might have finicky publishers also. :) The issue is distributing articles with the words, “Reprinted with permission” “Reprinted with permission” is too vague for us and we generally reject articles with that language. Why? Because we don’t want any liabilities from a publisher that sometime in the distant future says, “Well, nooooo, I didn’t mean everyone could reprint the article without further requiring permission each and every time.” When we read “Reprinted with permission,” we assume that means permission is only given for the person who publishes the article the first time after permission is given to a specific individual. If EzineArticles.com wasn’t a viral article syndication/distribution hub, then this wording would be perfectly acceptable. Our Author TOS requires that authors allow the syndication of their articles WITHOUT permission of the author provided that they follow the posted rules under the Publisher TOS (of which the ultimate burden to enforce copyright falls on the author of the article and not EzineArticles.com). Make sense?
I Love EzineArticles!Rate This Post: And now for something silly… Which design do you like better? A) B) Vote or give your suggestions for improvement by leaving a comment on this thread. I’m thinking we’ll make something out of these, but not sure what yet… perhaps T-shirts or coffee mugs.
Scott Richards - Author SpotlightRate This Post: Every week I review all of the hundred+ author photo’s that are uploaded. Usually there is a big range from poor quality to high quality author photo, but every 30-50 author photo uploads…comes along one that is unique! Scott Richards’s author photo stood out today and I thought I’d share his with you. Way to go Scott on being creative. :) I don’t know Scott personally, but my branding brain was hoping that his author photo color scheme was going to blend in with his website so that I’d have a seamless visual experience… Unfortunately, this didn’t happen as his main website has dark red hues, but perhaps he had this author photo from a previous website. …which brings me to this tip: If you want to strength your markets unconscious confidence in you and your brand, find a way to add something subtle to your photo so that when a visitor reaches your website, they feel like they were already part of the experience.

Article Writing TipRate This Post: Do this: After you’ve written your next quality article, stop and then read your article out loud as if you were going to lead a seminar audience with your article. You’ll often find subtle sentence structure things to change or improve after you do this simple and quick exercise — with the end result being an article that may make more sense. Give it a try and let me know if this strategy works for you…as it works for me. :]
New Ezine MembersRate This Post: Every day about 17-35 new subscribers join the EzineArticles periodic email newsletter. I’ve been pondering where these subscribers come from…so I grabbed a random day that we didn’t send out a newsletter (so it wouldn’t be influenced) to study. Here’s what I found out: Monday, August 8th, 22 members joined our main email newsletter, 1 unsubscribed within 3 hours of joining, 12 members joined because they created a new EzineArticles author membership account and 9 joined either with the subscription form in the left navigation or our sign up page. While most confirmed their subscription within 3 minutes of asking to join, the average was about 14 minutes from requesting the subscription to actually confirming it with 3 members taking 12-14 hours before they confirmed their subscription. Interesting to note that 100% of those who asked to join our newsletter actually confirmed their subscription. It’s not that I’m surprised by this, but traditional knowledge indicates that only 60-75% actually confirm for those who require double opt-in as we do. Now that we’re on a run rate to add 7,600-9,000 new members annually, I need to begin thinking about how we can double or triple that. If you have a favorite list building idea, I’d be interested to hear it.
New Feature: 3 Resource BoxesRate This Post: This was a monster new feature that took us quite a bit to add, functionality wise, into your membership accounts with us. You can now save your default RESOURCE BOX and up to 2 additional RESOURCE BOXES for your default author and alternate author accounts… SAVING YOU THE TIME from having to copy and paste it each time you send in a new article. :-)
Once you setup your default resource box (and up to 2 optional resource boxes of data), you will no longer have to re-enter them each time you send in an article! Think of the additional time you can save with this new feature? Perhaps you might want to head to the gym earlier or better yet, send in another article now that you can do it in less time! :) *hint hint* You can easily select a resource box from your members profile that you pre-defined and our submission form will auto-fill it in. Thanks goes out to Dave Taylor who first made the suggestion for us to add this functionality back in February. Please log in to your account, have a look, comment on it, and break it for us so we can strengthen this new feature before telling 9k authors about it.
Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero - Author SpotlightRate This Post: I met Lorrie online over a year ago from her friend, Ali Brown. In fact, Lorrie has changed the way I manage one of my top ezines due to a little but important tip I picked up from her (read the tip here). Lorrie’s ezine is one of the less than a dozen that I read on a continuous basis. She really gets it and delivers real value vs. a lot of Internet marketers that make you want to run for the unsubscribe button. Classify her in your branding brain as a world class copywriter. :) Funny trivia bit: Lorrie is a direct descendent of Ralph Waldo Emerson but swears their writing styles are completely different. You can learn more about Lorrie via her articles or her website: http://www.red-hot-copy.com/

ArticleAnnouncer for AnnouncementsRate This Post: I was just thinking about how I liked Jason Potash’s ArticleAnnouncer product for the way it slaps my article into an emailable template to be sent to the popular article announcement lists (that I don’t control). Great, so here I am sitting appreciating that I can now send my articles faster to the various email announcement lists…that produce zero results. Here’s what’s needed:
