Way Back Machine For Authors
If your like me, you’ve been publishing stuff on the net since it started… and web projects might come and go, but one expert author (Edward Weiss of quiescencemusic.com) had this tip to share:
Go to alexa.com. Once there, then can use their WayBack machine to visit older versions of your websites and pages. Many older articles and material is left forgotten, but can be retrieved using this. I’ve posted at least 10 articles that I’ve lost but found again on Alexa to ezine articles.
Excellent idea Edward! Thanks for giving me permission to share this idea with your fellow authors. I bet there are other authors who have published stuff on websites of theirs that they no longer publish and don’t have a backup of their content. This is a great way to get a 2nd chance to retrieve that content to create new articles.
Trivia: A few months ago, we elected to not have EzineArticles’s database to be included in the Way Back Machine’s database.
When I first found the Wayback machine I couldn’t believe my eyes. All I did was type in the URL where my old articles were and voila, they appeared.
I also had no idea that there was a site that archived old web pages. I was a little suspicious at first, but soon realized how valuable a resource it was. Especially since I’ve found at least 10 articles that I thought were lost on their site.
