Article Speed

I was reading:
http://www.searchengineworld.com/misc/guide.htm

Here is an excerpt:

“Speed isn’t everything, it’s almost the only thing. Your site should respond almost instantly to a request. If you get into even 3-4 seconds delay until “something happens” in the browser, you are in long term trouble. That 3-4 seconds response time may vary for site destined to live in other countries than your native one. The site should respond locally within 3-4 seconds (max) to any request. Longer than that, and you’ll lose 10% of your audience for every second. That 10% could be the difference between success and not.”

A few authors who received a new article acceptance email from us were wondering why we said their articles were in our RECENTLY SUBMITTED listing but when they went to see if they really were, they were not.

Here’s the solution to the mystery: That page only displays the most recent 100 articles that we approved into our site.

If you take a morning like today, in the last two hours, we have added 98 new articles so there are only 2 showing from Sunday (yesterday) in the listing.

In fact, most days the “Recently Submitted” view rolls over 2-4 times because we add about 200-450 new articles daily. For the month of March to date, we’ve approved 1277 new articles in the last 6.5 days and there are another 175 in queue to be approved plus another 300 that are gummed up in the PROBLEM STATUS queue waiting for resolution.

The home page is currently displaying the most recent 675 articles. I have no idea why we choose that number but I do know that we shoot to not be displaying any more than 2 days old of articles on the home page (meaning that I expect to be on target to add 350 new articles daily at a minimum).

Any questions?

Ezine List Building

I’ve just read Alexandria K. Brown’s new special report. I didn’t think there would be anything new for me but I was wrong! Way to go Ali! When compared to the other email list building products that are $300-$997 USD, Alexandria’s is a steal at less than a hundred bucks:

Broken Link Stats

Rate This Post: 1 Stars2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars

As of this post we have 15,948 articles in the directory.

Our initial broken link scanner processed 14,481 of those 15,948 articles and found 9,277 unique links of which 8,676 (93.5) were GOOD links and 601 (6.5%)were BAD links

601 articles are on the chop block evaluation decision this week.

What a shame considering our entire directory doesn’t have any articles that are older than August of 2004!

We’ll probably not do anything with this data and run it again in a week and then compare the results so that we don’t remove articles by authors who were just having transient problems when we ran the report.

Bottom line: Broken links in any article is an SEO liability and it’s a problem we intend to correct on a frequent basis.

What do you think we should do with the articles that have broken links in them? Do we remove them or do we just make the link inactive?

Zero Tolerance For Infringement

Rate This Post: 1 Stars2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars

A former EzineArticles author today had over 100 of his articles BLOWN away and banned from our site.

All it takes is ONE legitimate complaint that proves an author infringed on another author’s rights without their permission.

Just wanted to share that we have a zero tolerance for copyright infringement and will take action to enforce it.

Resource Box Tip

Rate This Post: 1 Stars2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars

Your RESOURCE BOX is for LEAD GENERATION.

Let me repeat that: Article Marketing is a LEAD GENERATION vehicle.

This is not a direct sales vehicle (even if sales do happen directly from your articles).

With that said, consider using your resource box to capture qualified customer leads rather than trying to sell hard one or multiple items. A great way to capture leads is to use your RESOURCE BOX to drive subscriptions to your ezine (email newsletter).

Make sense?

Have you had any success from using your resource box to drive new ezine subscriptions? Tell us about it:

5,000 Articles Added

Rate This Post: 1 Stars2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars

In the month of February, exactly 5,000 articles were added.

This was only 50% of our goal, but we are still very thankful to all of the thousands of authors who sent in their best works!

Also, we had 519,564 visitors (372,116 unique) for the month of February and these visitors produced 55,246 daily page views (1,546,888 total) giving our AUTHORS MASSIVE exposure!

Thanks for taking part in the EzineArticles.com Article Marketing system and project!
