Article Audit TrailingRate This Post: Effective Friday, we have added a new process that is completely behind the scenes but will aid us in helping you get your articles added into our directory faster. We’re already audit-trailing a great deal of information about your membership accounts, article submissions, article modifications, article changes and the articles you remove. In addition, we also time/date stamp who on our team approved your article and have been doing this since 4th qtr 2004. Now, we’re taking it one step further.
Article Groove-OnRate This Post: This weekend and for fun, I drilled through our inactive waiting to be approved queue to add a little over 400 articles into the directory. By the numbers: I see we are now past 18,000. Month to date, we’ve added 2,660 new articles thanks to quality submissions by our expert authors. As a new milestone of interest, this week we will be adding our 4,000′th unique expert author. Anyway, I meant to stop several times because I knew our editorial team would be working the queue on Monday morning but… I got into a article approving groove and couldn’t get out of it. :-) Did that ever happen to you where you get into a groove and it just feels natural to stay there even when your mind is telling you to “step away from the computer”….
SEO Title CopywritingRate This Post: Got a brand new article out on my lastest thoughts from watching the results from 15k+ articles that have created more than 1 million page views. Check it out and let me know what you think: The one secret I didn’t mention in the article is the keyword research tool that I use: GoodKeywords.
Shaving 3 Secs OffRate This Post: Our home page is about 110K+ in size and is displaying all of our categories and the most recent 675 articles accepted into our site. If you’ve been reading this blog, you know that our site is nearly 100% dynamically generated upon each request. Yesterday, we changed the home page only to not being dynamically generated on the fly upon each request, but rather changed it to be statically generated and only updated 2 to 3 times a day with a cron job. Why are we doing this? We have a feeling that increasing our speed of delivery is going to be a key ingredient to reaching our page view and unique daily visitor goals. What do you think? Do you have any suggestions for us as to which pages within our site load too slow for you that we could improve on?
24,736 vs. 280Rate This Post: Thought I’d share a new record for us: Monday, March 7th of 2005: We served up 70,454 article page views to 24,736 unique human visitors. To put that in perspective: Monday, March 7th of 2004: We served up 1,017 article page views to 280 unique human visitors. You make a difference and the EzineArticles.com team appreciates your help as we grow this project together. From a goal standpoint, we’d like to be serving 50,000 unique humans per day by the end of this month.
Peak Times RevealedRate This Post: Want to take a peak at our secret time of day peak load graph?
What can you do with this information? If you’re going to be uploading a pile of articles, you can see that our system will be faster between 11pm and 7am CST. :-)
New Article ToolsRate This Post: Authors: Your articles with us now have a new clean look. We added a new “article tools” section on the upper right side of each article.
It accomplishes two purposes: 1) Cleaned up the look and made our site easier to utilize by end users who read the articles and may want to print, forward them to a friend, bookmark or learn how they could reprint the article. 2) We removed the old text copy that could potentially confuse the contextual ads being served. End result should be a small improvement in the quality of how related the ads are to each article. What do you think of this innovation?
.dot CredibilityRate This Post: Some authors try to send in optimized article text designed to beat spam filters when their articles are picked up and sent to an ezine publishers list. My theory on the idea: You destroy your credibility for the chance of increased deliverability. My suggestion: Don’t ruin your reputation to improve the chance at higher email deliveries when your article is picked up and sent to the list. You’ll get a higher ROI from the audience that trusts and respects you than sub-consciously questions why you put a dot in the word f.ree. Do you agree or disagree and why?
